Be careful when ordering - the Bonus track is not on the CD here January 7, 2009 Glen H. Knott (UK) I ordered this item thinking I had bought it with the bonus track 'Choices' on, as track 13, from CD Imports, one of the sellers linked to the bonus edition. Please note the bonus track is only available on the Japanese issue version of this CD and NOT on any other issue linked to the special release on Amazon. CD Imports have offered a refund but only if the item was unopened. They choose not respond about the bonus track. The 12-track version is brilliant nonetheless - pure listening heaven, perfect for a rainy Sunday afternoon. Just be mindful about the bonus track edition and where you buy it from!
Randy Crawford & Joe Sample - The Secret Combination January 1, 2009 Daniel Maddock (Staffordshire, England) This is a fantastic album... Jazzy, smooth and soulful, perfect for any occasion... Crawford & Sample have found a winning formula here. As an added bonus upon receiving my CD I found out that it's Steve Gadd on drums... Amazing stuff. Brilliant.
Sunday Times Review December 14, 2008 Music Fan (US) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Extraordinary how little Randy Crawford's voice has changed in the three decades since the glossy rhythms of Street Life dominated the charts. Back again, on tour with the Crusaders pianist Joe Sample, she has been digging deeper into the jazz tradition. The urbane, uptown blues ballads of the late, great Charles Brown provide a role model this time, as her old friend Tommy LiPuma directs proceedings from the studio console. Given Crawford's sunny persona, she gets a surprising amount of mileage out of Every Day I Have the Blues and Respect Yourself, while the accompaniment is always direct and unfussy. No Regrets
