Amazon.co.uk Review This Limited Edition version includes a DVD of album tracks being recorded in the studio.Stereophonics' fifth album will inevitably provide more material for the band's critics, if only for the fact its title has clearly been rather lazily inspired from the back of a rental video case. The music within, however, is anything but laid-back: the employment of Argentinean drummer Javier Weyler, who replaces founding member Stuart Cable, sees the band venturing further along the hard-rock path that spawned previous denim-and-leather-clad tracks like "Moviestar". The first three tracks find frontman Kelly Jones is in downbeat mood, his vocals drawled and insouciant, and his lyrics distinctly sour--take the raging "Doorman", where he rails against some faceless bouncer with surprising and rather paranoid ferocity: "You like nothing more than to break my face/ You like to throw me out on the street!". Things sweeten towards the album's middle, providing two of the album's stand-out tracks: the chiming, electronic-tinged "Dakota" is a light, buoyant anthem that deserves to be a hit, while "Rewind" is a reflective moment that pricks memories of mid-period U2. But on the whole, Language. Sex. Violence. Other? isn't an album out to win new fans - it's an album that caters to the Stereophonics' rock faithful, and it's them who'll really dig it. --Louis Pattison

Awful by phonics standards August 23, 2008 J. Bowden (England) I havent listened to pull the pin but from what ive heard of Stereophonics (all their other albums) this is by some distance the worst, all of their other albums have a couple of real gems in them, this just doesnt, its a complete mess and for me is almost unlistenable. Superman is average at best and is sadly as good as this album gets, Dakota is overated rubbish. Really dissapointed by this crap.
Stereophonics best August 13, 2008 Marv (England) I thought dakota was a good solid performance by the phonics but i think the best tracks lie behind the singles with such tracks as Devil and deadhead being my two favourites! This album gets my 5 stars!
A rocking joy! August 8, 2006 DVD Frenzy There's some great stuff on this. Some of it's a little poppy, like Dakota, but for all out ball crunching rock, take a listen to Deadhead or Devil - Devil's just superb. Thought the band was heading down a more bluesy road until I heard this album. Terrific stuff.
5th album March 26, 2006 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
I am a HUGE stereophonics fan, and couldn't wait for this album to be realised and purchased it the day it came out. Having loved 'Dakota', I was expecting a fresh exciting sound from sterephonics, but this album is their worst yet. its not so much a bad album, its average at best. Songs to look out for are 'Superman' 'Rewind' and 'Dakota' all 3 of which were realised as singles. If you dont own anything by the 'phonics, but the 1 of the other of their albums, all of which r excellent 5 out of 5 albums, 'Word Gets Around' being at the top of the pile.
Must have Stereophonics' Album!!!! February 9, 2006 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is an album that is not just for stereophonics' fans but moreover for everyone who loves rock music. It simply the best Stereophonics album so far and you will not be bored of it after some listening. The album starts well with Superman which is good enough to be rated 8/10, then Doorman follows up with some nice instrumental talks 10/10, Brother is one that surely will not be your favourite but it can have 6/10, Devil is simply another beauty song 9/10, Dakota is the Hit Single and I really appreciate this song 10/10, Rewind can be granted a 8/10 follow up by the good Pedalpusher 9/10, Girl also can be 6/10, Lolita 9/10 and nice song Deadhead 10/10, the final song of the album is not so bad but should have been improved 5/10.You will also have a bonus DVD to show you how they perform on show. 10/10 Hurry up you will not regret the purchase of this low priced beauty.
