Amazon.co.uk Review
If anyone's suffering from new-year blues, Come With Us will shake them out of their narcolepsy. This fantastic album roars out of the starting blocks like a supercharged dragster, blowing up a heady fume of hip-hop techno flavoured with the Chemical's new found post-rave happiness. Their fourth album shows all the passion of their earlier works coupled with a sophistication beyond the mere wish to knock people's musical heads off. Impressively after over six years of making music and touring they've lost none of their enthusiasm. In fact their longevity seems to inspire them to greater achievement in a field that traditionally feeds off the new, the novel and the young. Best of all, the Brothers have developed the ability to communicate heartfelt emotions, evident on tracks such as the Beth Orton sung "The State We're In", the Pink Floyd-like "Pioneer Skies" and magnificent album closer "The Test". That doesn't mean that there aren't the "traditional" Chemical Brothers' dancefloor killers. The opener and title track "Come With Us" is easily the pulsating equal of "Hey Boy Hey Girl" or 1995's "Block Rockin' Beats". Both already released singles, the bizarre "It Began in Afrika" and the Donna Summer-meets-Kraftwerk blur of "Star Guitar" are included in their original form. They're probably the album's weakest tracks. The Brothers have moved on, yet they're still as good as they were. Go with them. --Jake Barnes

5 out of 5 stars Underrated Chemical Brothers album   November 9, 2008
Ms. S. P. Merrick (Essex, UK)
When asked "What is your favourite Chemical Brothers album?" most people say Dig Your Own Hole. Although that album is among one of the great electronic albums, this release is much more innovative and cultural with hits such as "It Began in Afrika" and "The Test" featuring Richard Ashcroft. Come with Us easily fits into my top ten favourite albums and I recommend it to any fan of electronic music.

My favourite tracks in the album - Star Guitar, The Test, My Elastic Eye

2 out of 5 stars Acid Trip   October 22, 2008
Bilbo Baggins
The title track is pretty sound, however the others just all lack that special chemical beat. Don't buy it for over 2 because it really isn't worth that.

3 out of 5 stars Come With Us For A Wayward Journey   January 21, 2008
D. Shaw (UK)
Come With Us is patchily brilliant, but sounds a world away from 1999's Surrender. This is not to say that Tom and Ed should not stretch new boundaries, but the album sounds incomplete and unfocused, a weakness which plagued 2005's Push The Button. The stomping title track, with acid loops, vocoder vocals, and eclectic beats, is classic Chemicals, and Star Guitar is one of their finest achievements. Galaxy Bounce does bounce, and Hoops contains a terrific My Bloody Valentine guitar within a track that accomplishes everything. Yet from here, the album struggles, with the messy "My Elastic Eye", and the meandering "Pioneer Skies". "It Began In Afrika" made the album cut because of its popularity in Ibiza, and certainly sends you on a journey, but Beth Orton's vocals on "The State We're In" fail to take you anywhere. "The Test" is a big, bold finale, but you still feel Tom and Ed could have done much better.

3 out of 5 stars hmm the start of the decline   June 26, 2007
a_burn (england)
dont get me wrong this is a good album, but it just lacks the style and karisma of the past material. i think this is where they started to change. "come with us" and "star guitar" are awesome tracks, "galaxy bounce" and "denmark" are also worth a good listen.

i just think some of the other tracks are quite weak; "it began in africa" certainly didnt do it for me.

i first heard star guitar on one of the world rally championship games and didnt realise it was the chemical brothers. this however is a brilliantly made track, and i think all would agree

4 out of 5 stars Very good   June 12, 2004
May lack the special guests this time round (apart from Ashcroft), but this is polished stuff, and proves the bros arent out of business just yet, Surrender is obviously still the favourite, but, watch the videos of the singles on this album, very clever, but you just dont realise it until you see it.
