Luminous green cd case aside (unfortunately a sign of marketing desperation)the long reinterpretation of "La Forme" is the highlight here. This may simply be due to fact "Aero" was released around 3 yrs ago in a plethora of 'dance' remixes anyway, and although the Hot Chip version is far more ambient/melodic (ie lots of dropouts/breaks) than these it still seems odd to release the track yet again. "La Forme" however was a minimilist track originally, almost like a long interlude, and the extra production here takes it to epic proportions. In this case I feel they've done an excellent job, even with the introduction of beats. For completists this is a must, for fans of dance music, probably besy avoid, or at least be wary. For those of us who want another new Kraftwerk album (or a proper remix album - Hot Chip remix of "Vitamin" sounds a really good idea) then this will have to do, even though it does smack of 'cash-in' a wee bit)!

Having already released Aerodynamik as a single (and unlike the previous reviewer I think the de Crecy remix rocks in a completely un-Kraftwerkian manner) it seems Kraftwerk are pursuing their wayward course by releasing yet another remix a full 3 years after the track's album debut. Do we really need this? Of course not. But then I heard what Hot Chip had done with it, and I kind of changed my mind: it's good. Maybe not amazing, but very good. It just seems a shame that tracks like Vitamin and Elektro Kardiogramm have not had the same treatment; Vitamin, especially, is an album highlight, and a perfect candidate for a remix. So come on boys, commission a remix of the entire album and put us out of our misery.

I haven't got a clue who "Hot Chip" are - probably some "nu rave" nonsense (yes, I'm in my late 30s)...but this is very good. Harks back to the melodic-era Kraftwerk (as opposed to their minimal "click house"/Basic Channel re-incarnation - PS not to say that's a bad thing): the Kraftwerk of Endless Hall of Mirrors, The Model and Computer Love. Lovingly constructed and respectful remixes. In the case of Aerodynamik - as good as, if not better than the original and 1 million miles away from the truly god-awful Alex Gopher/Etienne De Crecy (who they?) remix that was their last single. As for "La Forme" - HC's rmx perhaps does not achieve the Prescription Underground-esque deepness of the LP-version but it still manages to expand and redefine the track without detracting from it - which surely should be the goal of any remixer. By the way Ralf and Florian - when are you going to let Carl Craig loose on one of your songs? It's high time you did guys...
